With a distinguished career in the Swedish Armed Forces, including nearly a decade as Supreme Commander, Micael Bydén brings deep strategic insight and operational experience to the CR Group board. His appointment strengthens the group’s relations and its mission to protect what matters most.
Micael Bydén brings with him more than 40 years of service to Swedish defence and national security. His military career began in 1982, with a background as a fighter pilot in the Swedish Air Force forming the foundation for his later leadership roles. Over the decades, he has held several key leadership roles, culminating in his appointment as Supreme Commander of the Swedish Armed Forces in 2015, a position he held until 2024. During his leadership, he led the Swedish Armed Forces through a historic transformation, strengthening national defence in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, guiding Sweden’s path into NATO and overseeing the most extensive modernization and expansion of the Armed Forces in decades.
During his tenure as Supreme Commander, Micael Bydén oversaw one of the most significant modernizations of Sweden’s defence posture in decades, navigating increased geopolitical tension, strategic realignment with NATO, and a sharpened national focus on resilience, preparedness, and civil-military cooperation.
His deep understanding of the operational, strategic, and political dimensions of defence and security provides invaluable context for CR Group’s mission to protect sensitive information and critical infrastructure across Europe.
